Welcome!
Thank you for using the Stafford Circuit Court Clerk's automated marriage license application program. Please complete your application in its entirety and ensure that all of the information is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
Note: If you submit an application and later discover that you made a data entry error, DO NOT submit another application. Instead, please bring any corrections to the attention of Clerk’s Office staff at the time you pick up your license.
In order to claim your marriage license after submitting an automated application, both parties must appear in person at the Reception Desk of the Stafford Circuit Court Clerk's Office. At that time, the Clerk of Court or Deputy Clerk will administer an oath and obtain the necessary signatures on the actual license.
Your marriage license must be claimed at the Clerk’s Office within ten (10) calendar days.
Otherwise, the application will become void and re-submission will be necessary.
NOTE: Pursuant to Virginia law, once a marriage license has been issued by the Clerk’s Office, it is only valid for sixty (60) days. If the marriage does not occur within sixty (60) days of issuance of the license, a new license application must be submitted and additional fees paid.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Circuit Court Clerk's Office at (540) 658-8750.
